Walnut
Walnut is a strong, durable hardwood known for its beautiful, unique color variations, ranging from pale to dark chocolate brown, often with purple or reddish hues. Walnut is easy to work with and is a popular choice for woodworkers and DIYers!

Cherry
Cherry is a reddish-brown, fine-grained hardwood prized for its aesthetic qualities and ease of workability. Over time, cherry develops a richer, deeper red color as it is exposed to natural light.

Hard Maple
Maple is a strong, dense hardwood characterized by a pale, creamy-white color, a fine and even texture, and a generally straight grain that can occasionally feature attractive wavy or "figure" patterns. It finishes smoothly and takes stains well, making it versatile for furniture, cabinets, flooring, musical instruments, and kitchen items.

Red Oak
Red oak is a strong, durable hardwood with a light to medium brown color, sometimes with a reddish hue. It machines well, accepts stains and finishes readily, is known for its wear resistance, and is commonly used for furniture, flooring, and cabinetry.

White Oak
White oak wood is strong, dense, and resistant to decay and liquids due to its unique "closed-grain" structure. It is known for its straight, often tight grain with a prominent, attractive ray fleck pattern, though this can be more subdued than in red oak. Its natural durability makes it ideal for flooring, furniture, barrels, and outdoor applications, and it works well for steam-bending.

Alder
Alder is a moderately soft hardwood, pale to reddish-brown in color, with a fine, uniform, and straight grain. It is highly workable, easy to finish, affordable, and has moderate stability, though it is not very durable when exposed to the elements. Its ability to take stains well and its resemblance to cherry make it a popular choice for cabinets, furniture, and millwork. The knots throughout add a rustic character and continue to make this wood a popular choice for woodworkers.

Hickory
Hickory is characterized by its high density, exceptional hardness, strength, and shock resistance, making it one of the toughest native woods. It has a distinctive, often contrasting appearance, with light-colored sapwood and brown to reddish-brown heartwood, and can feature a wavy or irregular grain pattern with a slightly coarse texture. Due to its toughness, hickory can be difficult to work with hand tools, but it is excellent for high-impact applications like tool handles, sporting equipment, flooring, and robust furniture.

Poplar
Poplar wood is a soft hardwood known for its light, uniform color (creamy white to yellowish-brown, sometimes with green streaks), straight and fine grain, ease of workability, and moderate strength. It is easy to cut, shape, and finish, though it's not suitable for heavy-wear surfaces. Poplar takes paint well but can stain patchily due to uneven absorption. It is best for interior applications like furniture, millwork, and paneling.

Ash
Ash wood is a strong, flexible, and shock-resistant hardwood with a light color and straight, open grain, making it ideal for furniture, tools, and sporting equipment like baseball bats and bows. While it is relatively easy to work with and accepts finishes well, it has poor resistance to decay and insects, limiting its use in outdoor applications.

Premium Pine
Premium pine wood is characterized by its smooth, consistent, and uniform color and grain, with a minimal number of tight, sound knots that contribute to a clean, polished appearance suitable for high-end applications like cabinetry and furniture. It is a lightweight yet durable softwood with good workability, meaning it's easy to cut, sand, and finish, though its natural resistance to insects and moisture is moderate, often requiring treatment for prolonged exposure to the elements.
